This is the life... Camping, Family, Grandkids, Outdoor Life and Friends!

Well, seems like just yesterday and I was here trying to figure out what to write. We have camped at Sherwood in Olivet and on Moon Acres, our own private "campground" in Olivet. Tom had back surgery last Friday and he's recovering slowly. I have managed to keep him in tow for the last four days. Hopefully he'll stay put for a while longer, but he's getting pretty bored. We spent a peaceful weekend with family and friends in Olivet.

As we quitely sat with Kelli and new baby, Lilly, we noticed to fawns coming into the clearing. Lilly was cooing and making beautiful baby noises. One of the deer decided she/he wanted to check out the little sounds and eventually worked his way up to about 20 feet from where we were setting. Then, he just stood there and watched us as we watched him. I was able to get quite a few pictures, so I have included a couple of them.

We watched the Olivet fireworks with friends and family. We enjoyed the personally delivered chicken from the barbeque down town - Thanks to Danny Lapoint. We so enjoy our property and our good friends and family. But... we do have a chance for a real vacation in August, when we camp for a week at Tawas State Park on Lake Huron. A "real vacation" is that which means we don't HAVE to do anything if we don't want to. I can read a book, or take a walk on the beach, or ...nap or best of all - Nothing!

Keep tuned in for more of my wonderfully exciting life!

Okay, okay, okay - so here I am. Finally. Now where do I start. I keep saying that if I had a wireless card I could work on my blog where ever I go. That may be in the works, so we'll see if it really makes a difference.

Sometimes camping is simply a challenge. We wake up on Saturday at Chain O'Lakes State Park in Indiana and we are literally surrounded by water. There are 4 unts and we couldn't get from one to the other without wading in ankle-deep water. Here are a couple of pictures so you can get an idea...

But sometimes, the caming experience is perfect. Particularly when you're camping with the grandkids.

"You want me to do what?" " An apple a day.."

"Tools and PaPa, Benji's world" "Maybe I can catch them this way?"

And on June 1, 2009, a new granddaughter was born:

Lillianna Estelle Hodas. Healthy and beautiful. Here she is with her big sister, Bella.

Okay, so I've finally posted a little news. Keep an eye out there is definitely more to come.

"Bear with me while I get my feet wet"

We are really looking forward to beginning our camping season. Our first "trip" will be out to our property in Olivet. It's quiet and peaceful. Although this year will probably be a little different with a 19-month old running around. Benjamin is so active we may to to strap him to the picnic table. Of course, I am just kidding. We look forward to every minute. And Abby will only be aware of all the strange new goings on with the bonfires and the camper and the bugs and the dogs and ......... Benjamin.

We hope the weather holds up for our first official bonfire next weekend. Of course, any of you reading this are welcome to join us. The fish in the pond were biting last season and the kids had a ball catching as many as they wanted. They were no bigger than their hand but the would catch them and toss them back.

Yes, it is Mother's Day but I get to do what I love the most. Sit around outside, enjoy the fresh air and enjoy the friendship that we share.

Stay tuned. I promise to improve my blogging abilities. Some day I'll rank right up there with Arthur and Joyce. Well, maybe Joyce anyway. Have a great week!

Just Getting Started

Okay, so this is all very new to me, but I can't let my son-in-law or my sister think I'm not hip. I'm sure that expression is never used anymore. So yes, I decided to go cyber. This may be just the beginning. I'll be sharing things like my camping adventures, my grandchildren's activities, my family goings on and of course, my grandchildren. Oh, did I already mention them? I try my hand at scrapbooking but don't have much time to really accomplish it all. Of course, my main scrapbook topic would be ... my grandchildren (& family).

Okay, so as the weeks go on, I will try to keep up with this and let you know even more about Benjamin and Abigail and Hayley and Kelsey and Bella and the new one due in June. So keep an eye out for the new cyber Kathy.
